California Dog Fears He Will Be Disenfranchised By SAVE Act

Dog who voted

California Democrats warn that if the SAVE Act becomes law, many unlicensed dogs throughout California will be unable to vote.

They insist this would disproportionately affect minority breeds who have trouble getting licenses, like Chihuahuas and Black Labs.

“The SAVE Act discriminates against breeds of color,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “The cost of a license is a poll tax.”

“The act also affects bitches who get married.”

Proponents of the SAVE Act claim Democrats are against dog license requirements because dogs tend to be in favor of more feces on the sidewalks, so they tend to vote Democrat.

“That’s ridiculous,” replied California’s Secretary of State, Shirley Weber. “We’re against it because it’s discriminatory, and it’s unnecessary. “There are no undocumented canines voting in California.”

“Except for the ones who are.”

“But it’s not enough to sway an election.”

“And if it DOES, that’s a good thing!”

At publishing time, Weber had commissioned a study to compare the effectiveness of poll workers verifying dogs’ identities by checking their licenses, versus just sniffing their butts.
