Whoopi Goldberg Proposes Raising Taxes
On the Top 0.875% Instead of the Top 1%
So That She’ll Be Excluded

Whoopi Goldberg on 'The View'

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Last Tuesday on ABC’s “The View”, the hosts discussed AOC’s “Tax the Rich” dress, and whether the top 1% of Americans should pay more in taxes.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg quickly did some math, and then announced that we should not raise taxes on the top 1%.

Instead, it should be the top 0.875%.

“You know what freaked me out about this?” Golberg asked rhetorically. “I've been trying to figure out -- because they say the 1% -- you know how much the top 1% is considered? People who make about $421,000 a year make you part of the 1%. For me this is outrageous. You know because--Listen, in America you're supposed to be able to come and turn yourself into everything, you know?”

“Just know if you're earning over $523,000, this could be a problem. They don't know how much you do for your family. They don't know if you're raising your grandkids....”

Goldberg suggested that instead we tax the top 0.875%, which are people making $523,732 or more per year.

“Those rich bastards making $523,732 per year, they should pay more taxes.”

“But not the people making $523,731. That much is OK.”

“The threshold should be the top 0.875%.”

“And next year, depending on how my investments go, we might have to raise that threshold a little higher.”
