Disney Claims Gina Carano’s Tweets
“Denigrate People Based on
Their Cultural and Religious Identities”
but Chinese Uyghur Concentration Camps Do Not
BURBANK, CALIFORNIA – Yesterday, Disney fired actress Gina Carano for her posts on social media that Disney claimed
“denegrat[ed] people based on their cultural and religious identities.”
However, Disney also recently thanked the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for allowing Disney to film in a region of China
where the CCP has placed Uyghurs (a cultural and religious minority) in concentration camps.
“We can’t work with people who oppress other people,” said a Disney Spokesperson. “We’d rather work with the CCP.”
When pressed about this apparent hypocrisy, a Disney spokesperson explained their position:
“Just because the Uyghurs are being denigrated based on their cultural and religious identities, doesn’t mean they’re being denigrated based on their cultural and religious identities.”
“There is a hierarchy of denigration. Issuing a mean tweet is much worse than putting people in a concentration camp.”
