Obama Officials Who Unmasked Flynn Complain that Unmasking Them Was Wrong

WASHINGTON, D.C. – More than a dozen Obama-era officials who requested the unmasking of General Michael Flynn complained today when their own names were unmasked.

The unmasking of these officials was done by acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell, as a part of Attorney General William Barr’s investigation into the origins of the Trump Russia probe, headed by lead investigator John Durham.

“Unmasking people is wrong”, said former CIA Director John Brennan, who was on the list. “When we unmasked Flynn, we had evidence a crime had been committed,” he said. “Of course, that evidence is classified, so we can’t show it to you.”

Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden was another of the people who helped unmask General Flynn. In his latest webcast, Biden addressed the situation:

“This unmasking...of, you know…the mask people...who were wearing masks...was a bad...unmasking...thing...because...as we all know, wearing masks is important. And we all should stay home, because...wearing masks...people could get the wrong idea...if you go into a bank or a liquor store. It’s safer to be safe. So everybody stay home, and wear masks...to avoid...you know...that thing...and don’t unmask people...because the mask you unmask could be your own.”

Many other leading Democrats echoed the criticism of the unmasking of the unmaskers, and of the Barr-Durham investigation in general.

Senator Chuck Schumer said, “We need to stop Barr and Durham, because they won't accept the idea that DOJ officials should just be trusted and allowed to do their jobs.”

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi stated, “Barr’s entire effort is a witch-hunt, designed to stop our 4-year long investigation into Trump that we guarantee will eventually find Trump guilty of some crime or another."

“What the Trump Administration is doing is pure politics,” said House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler. “It’s wrong for his investigators to investigate the investigators. And we’re going to investigate them for it.”

Rep. Adam Schiff went further, accusing Republicans of accusing Democrats of doing what he says Republicans are actually doing themselves. “Republicans are gas-lighting over a false narrative that some sort of crimes were committed, even though it’s been thoroughly investigated and no evidence was found. Yet despite this lack of evidence, they still keep claiming a crime occurred. They need to step down, and allow us to continue to investigate the obvious crimes Trump committed.”
